Peace In Love (Columbia)

On its debut album, In Love, Birmingham U.K. quartet Peace blasts out indie pop/rock that transports the listener right back to 1993. The band follows in the footsteps of numerous groups post The Stone Roses/Happy Monday Madchester scene, providing more than serviceable songs such as the warbling “Waste Of Paint” that recalls Blur’s “There’s No Other Way,” The Stone Roses’ “Fool’s Gold,” and Oasis’ “She’s Electric” all t the same time. That sounds like it would be amazing, but even though In Love is fun, Peace doesn’t break any new ground. It simply reminds up we like Britpop. “Lovesick” is a sing-along for impassioned teenage angst and “Higher Than The Sun”–unlike its Primal Scream namesake–is a rumbling young-love belter. Time to launder you baggy jeans; Peace justifies donning them again.
