Deluka’s Ellie Innocenti is the next balls-out, sex symbol frontwoman, right up there with the likes of the Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, and Metric’s Emily Haines. Innocenti leads the Birmingham, UK quartet’s five-track EP with an aggressive attitude cushioned in taut dance-pop rhythms. The new wave sensibility of the electrified energy on the EP illustrates the band’s captivation with synthesizers, but tight guitar work gives these tracks bite. Let’s hope Deluka can keep up this degree of high energy on their full-length debut.
